The Angel, The Devil and The Sunday 鸡蛋糕

There’s the very common but true saying that there’s a devil and angel in everyone of us.

Seriously, sometimes I just allow The Devil to get the better of me.

Yeah, you caught the point. I’m, most of the time, The Angel. Not much effort needed to put The Angel into action, cause it’s AWWWW natural!

Ok lah, I shall stop trying to make you people throw up.
Because you just don’t understand what I’m really like.

ANYWAY, The Devil showed up last Sunday at Sunset Bay.
I call it The Devil. Hanxu called it my 职业病 when I told her about it.

I shall start with why I was bothered right from the start, which led to my moodiness, which finally led to my display of.. let’s just call it undesirable behaviour, for a demure girl like me (YA, DEMURE LAH!).

Refrain from making any anyhow-guesses first, thanks.

Ok, I was on the way to Sunset Bay with my Ripcurl Beach Comp team-mate Jackson and Valerie. Jackson started telling me about Turtle (also in the team) having to go on a missionary trip soon and that he’ll be busy with church. He asked me whether we should just find a substitute for him because he might choose church over the beach volleyball competition.

My immediate reaction was, “HUH?! How can we forsake a team-mate so easily? We should at least confirm with him if he really doesn’t want to play lor. KNS!”

Then I started getting upset, because it’s team spirit we’re talking about here.

Reason for me thinking that it was The Devil upon self-reflection:
Maybe guys just don’t really give a damn about such little things. Too emotional, too cliché. At most when Turtle eventually shows up, we get him to play. The substitute is only for emergency purposes.
I shouldn’t have been so stubborn and insistent about being like a real team, because afterall we’re actually not, as in, we’re too young as a team to talk about spirit. Bahh..

Reason for Hanxu thinking that it’s 职业病:
Maybe I unconsciously compared the Ripcurl team to my girls. Me and my girls are like family. Inevitably the difference between the two teams will be disgustingly big. Should change my mindset this time round.

Conclusion: Maybe I over-reacted lah. I'm too narrow-minded and petty. *sighs*

Yup, so at that point of time, petty Hanxiang was quite unhappy already, right?

Nevermind.

Over at the beach, our setter just had to pull all sorts of stunts like choosing to give up a good first ball and tipping the ball over (Worst thing is he flopped sometimes and the ball DIDN’T GO OVER. *faints* For twinkle twinkle little stars’ sake, if you want to do stunts, do good stunts lah.) instead of setting it for the spikers. Please, if you want to impress beach babes, choose another time. And the beach babes have yet to arrive. Now still too early HOR.

PLUS! He thought my way of asking for a spike was funny. FUNNY!
THAT'S IT.

(It's my habit to tell the setter "Setter, 给我!" when I want to spike.)
My coach taught me how to communicate with the setter when I am confident of spiking and it was through him I grew and believed more in myself, as a volleyball player.

Now, you dare to come telling me that “你很贪心,可是我喜欢!” with that idiotic toady face of yours when you can’t even handle your setting properly?

Please ok? I don’t give up what my coach taught me so easily, at least not before I become senile or something. MY COACH IS THE BEST. SO SHUT UP, THANKS!

No choice, devil took over. Hostility and no smiles from that onwards.
Nevertheless, I still kept asking him for the ball to spike. Haha.
Think he sensed my unhappiness and started setting for the spikers PROPERLY. No more 笨蛋 stunts.

(Above are the explicit details of what happened and what I felt AT THAT POINT IN TIME. No more now. Ok?)

YAY!

Reason for admitting that I was partly at fault:

The setter had a tiring morning, so maybe he wasn’t quite playing his best also. Moreover, I can’t really blame him because I’m normally quite 笨蛋 also when I’m with this group of friends, so he might have thought I am always nutty. AND we did not have enough time to really get to know each others’ playing methods.

Yup, so I was quite unreasonable. Therefore, I did this when he messaged me on MSN this morning:

ON MSN:

-Jason n Rayn-> says:
wont be training this coming sat/sun

blah blah..

-Hanxiang- what's up with the obsession with cristiano mann..?! says:
Anyway, just wanna apologize for my notverygood attitude on Sunday. Because I will always ask for the ball from the setter when I’m confident that I can do a good spike, so when u kept thinking that it’s funny I was quite irritated lah. Just telling u now that I’m like that when I’m playing.
-Hanxiang- what's up with the obsession with cristiano mann..?! says:
Want to clarify lah.. better than to keep it in my heart, then wait till competition comes and flop again because we don’t understand each other’s playing styles.

-Jason n Rayn-> says:
nvm lah
-Jason n Rayn-> says:
i bo chup 1
-Jason n Rayn-> says:
setter decides who to give the ball to

-Hanxiang- what's up with the obsession with cristiano mann..?! says:
Ya lah, I know. It’s just my habit to ask for the ball. The setter can decide who he wants to set the ball to.
-Hanxiang- what's up with the obsession with cristiano mann..?! says:
My setter in school was like that also, but I’ll still ask for the ball.
-Hanxiang- what's up with the obsession with cristiano mann..?! says:
This was from my coach and I respect him a lot for teaching me a lot of things. So it’s quite within me to play like that. Habit liao. Ok lah, you don’t mind then good lor!
hahahahaha.

-Jason n Rayn-> says:
wait i scold u
-Jason n Rayn-> says:
i coach
-Jason n Rayn-> says:
ahahahaa

-Hanxiang- what's up with the obsession with cristiano mann..?! says:
Aiya.. i just wan to say it out lah.. if not i wont be able to play well lor, if i tink the players in our team dont understand wat each other's pattern is.. will feel uneasy..
-Hanxiang- what's up with the obsession with cristiano mann..?! says:
Go away lor! u track coach, not vball coach.. too bad.. last time i didnt noe.. now i noe!

---------------
YAY! Closure.
At least now, if I play horrible, it's really because I'm horrible and not because I have some hidden vendetta against Jason.
