人怕出名, 猪怕肥

On Sundays, I have breakfast with my parents then wet-marketing with Mama while Papa reads newspapers near our car.

Not IN the car but NEAR the car 'cause carpark lots are hot stuff on weekend mornings and my Papa doesn't like people giving him dagger eyes as they drive past our car.

Ok, this is not what I was going to tell you.

Yesterday Mama was at the chicken stall and one of the items she bought was 1kg of chicken legs. Don't ask me why she needs so many chicken legs-that-go-on-forever. I normally just eat and forget so even if she bought the same amount the previous time, I would have forgotten.

ANYWAY, we went off without the chicken legs! OH DEAR, OUR CHICKEN LEGS-THAT-GO-ON-FOREVER.

But we were lucky 'cause the chicken stall owner came chasing after us and told my Ma she forgot the chicken legs. And when we went back, the family that owns the chicken stall told her that, because it's her, they could recognise the The-Customer-Who-Forgot-The-Chicken-Legs. If it were another person, they wouldn't.

"Because you're fair-skinned and wears a navy blue t-shirt."

Totally random.

Being me, I had to poke fun at my Ma.

"WAHHHH MAMA, 你出名了啦." (In Hokkien, followed by genuine LOL.)

And I followed her to the vegetable stall where she suddenly turned her head towards me and said very seriously, "其实我很怕出名....."

GENUINE LOL AGAIN.
Right in front of the vegetable stall uncle who's trying to be funny, saying he's as skinny as 菜心 or something. Like totally senseless so I don't really remember.

But because of this, Ma had to keep a straight face while I LOL-ed away because she didn't want to give the vegetable stall uncle the pleasure of thinking he was making a clever joke.

After I finally stopped laughing, I told her, "麻..那你应该怕肥, 因为你是猪."

SHE'S REALLY BORN IN THE YEAR OF THE PIG WHATTT!
