Kiddy talk again.
My lil' darling Heidi stunned me again today.
"Miss Chong! Why don't you have a boyfriend?"
"Eh? How do YOU know I don't have a boyfriend?"
*sucks in the shock and steadies myself from falling off the chair*
"You don't have a ring on your finger."
"OH."
*chokes*
"You should get a boyfriend you know? Even I had a boyfriend before. His name is Casper. But I broke up with him when I went to primary school. Because I know we will NEVER EVER see each other again."
At this point a sense of melancholy suddenly washes over her normally cheery face. I'm not kidding.
I had to cheer her up.
"Awwwww. Don't worry. One day, when you're all grown up, you might meet him on the streets."
I think at that moment she was seeing romantic street lights, twinkly stars and full moon in cloudless sky, and maybe even hearing some diabetes-causing tune in her head, because she flashed me her widest, silliest grin ever.
"OK LISTEN. *tosses her long hair to the back and looks serious* Please go find a boyfriend and THEN LET ME KNOW."
(She said this, not me. 'Cos it's not in italics, see?)
At this, laughing out loud and ruffling the hair on her tiny head was all I could do.
"Hey! Can you not mess up my hair?!" *annoyed*
'Nuff said.
Oh, and this must have been the song playing in her head.
Buhbye.
