M for Mummy

There was a time when mothers were strict, firm and intimidating. When I was younger, my mother caned me for reasons like not knowing how to hold the chopsticks perfectly.

Yes, everything was about perfection, and everything was about rules.

I was driven out of the house many times. Whenever that happened, I was resourceful enough to seek shelter at my neighbour's. We would start playing and because I simply cannot multitask, I did not have time to repent about what I did to deserve punishment.

So, don't blame me for repeating the same mistakes. Blame my neighbour.

I've come to the main point:
Mothers nowadays are not what I remember them to be.

Ok, to be fair, I will just talk about my mother.

The other day, she asked me to cut a pear. Having done that, she said, "这个 pear 看起来就很甜 hor?"

My response: "对咯！看起来胖胖的。胖胖的东西都很 sweeeeeet 的嘛。"

And I proceeded on to say, "所以我每次都说你很 sweeeeet 嘛!" *pinches both sides of my mummy's chubby cheeks*

Then she gave me our family trademark, The Idiotic Grin, and continued busying herself with her own things.

And nowadays, I'm addicted to knocking my head against her shoulder, anytime anywhere anyhow. She will try to sweep me off like a rat and that's it. That's the miserable level of violence she's capable of nowadays.

Think she watched too many Taiwanese variety shows, under our influence. That's why she's trying to 走淑女路线. Well, it's never too late.

I told my tuition kids how cute my mummy is and they accused me of having thick skin. So I won't blame you if you don't understand this hype that I'm having about my mummy.

The last thing I want to say is, my mummy is a real heart-throb. Sometimes she's so adorable that I will feel like putting her on my palm and letting her run about.

She's shortest in the family too.
