Time for tears.
3 songs in 1.
1) Waiting For Nobody.
The song-writer must have foreseen the uprise of Wondergirls because the underlying meaning of the song is (I feel lah) NobodyNobody but YOU!
Moment of enlightenment: This is actually the singer telling the listener she's waiting for whoever-he-is!
OMG so clever. Gotta love the Chinese language.
2) Heart Matters Who Knows?
Typical of Hokkien songs - self-pitying - but that's what makes a solid Hokkien song. Of course, the title is a rhetorical question. Never attempt to act smart by raising your hand and saying you know. That would be an ultimate atmosphere destroyer so tolong, please don't anticlimax thanks.
3) I don't really know how to translate Ah Nia to English but it should be a certain giam cai mia woman.(Giam Cai Mia literally means preserved vegetable life, meaning a neglected, discoloured and basically a sad life.)
Side note: Actually I have always failed to understand this reference of a sad life to preserved vegetables because I quite enjoy preserved vegetables and think them flavourful but nevermind that's just how I feel.
SO.
I think the title should be
Nobody Knows The Heart Matters of The Woman Who Leads a Preserved-Vegetable-Life
Realise the Teochews are even more depressed than the Hokkiens, because you know, that's a statement, not a question, so you don't even have to try because you will never understand anyway. Never even give chance one leh. TNND.
Ok lah bye.
