One of the best things about teaching,
apart from being able to laugh at the kind of things kids say,
is watching them grow.
Growth in terms of knowledge, maturity and their love for the teacher.
There's a Secondary 3 student whom I taught when she was in Primary 6.
I couldn't make her learn then - I'm not kidding when I sometimes say that the kids treat my head as their playground.
As a result, a couple of months before her PSLE, I told her mother to stop wasting money on tuition and to let her study for the exams herself. She isn't interested in what I say anyway.
Around the end of last year, she got her mum to contact me again.
She wants me back.
The other day, I thought out loud to her, "It's really strange. Last time you didn't care a single bit about your studies. Now, you want to do well so much. Not a bad thing though." And I laughed.
She gave me the what-the-hell face which was super cute.
Love my kids.
Ok bye.
