Of Grannies and Babies

There's something about old folks and babies that makes me happy.

Somehow my scope of vision just suddenly fills up with heart-shaped bubbles and exclamation marks and glitter and sprinkles and balloons and I hear cute "pop pop pop' sounds when a baby or granny/yeye enters it.

And I can't help but flash them my biggest smile.

Sometimes I get a smile back.
Sometimes I tio ignore.
Oh well, life's not a bed of roses. I can totally bear failures.

Just now I saw the backview of a granny who's at most 3/4 my height, complete with white hair and flowery top.
I told Hanyan, with ALL the determination that I could muster, that I must queue behind her at the cashier because I totally dig her backview.

Guess what?
Her front view's even better. TOTALLY ADORABLE.

The most adorable part came when she was paying for her basket of goods.
She started to slowly search the basket for a white plastic bag containing something, something which she, after retrieving the bag from the basket, told me is her lost sole (Yes, shoe SOLE. Not SOUL. Don't worry.).

"掉出来了啦!" said the scraggly granny's voice.

And I was like, "关我屁事?"

NO LAH KIDDING.
She's so cute please. I can listen to her tell stories all day long.

Anyway, she was looking sheepish and smiley and I don't know, just superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr makes-me-wanna-pinch-her-cheeks but alas, I did not.

Scared I puncture her botox-ed face lah.

NO LAH KIDDING.
She looked naturally old but sweet. I don't think she would have minded if I touched her face. She's the kind type of granny.

On the way home, I saw a baby on a pram screaming at her AhMa, who shouted back at her in Hokkien, "MAI CA WA AH!"

CUTENESS ULTIMATUM.
My world exploded with fireworks.
